A light-filled sunroom.  Fixing up the basement, insulating the foundation and installing a new high-efficiency furnace were good ideas, and the new kitchen was a big improvement, but this sunroom really transformed the way George and Phyllis lived.  It bathed them in light and warmth in winter (in-floor radiant heat), opened the house to the patio and gardens out back in the summer, and sold their house for them when it came time.
